Elbit Systems wins contract to tactical radio systems

Elbit Systems has signed a contract to provide automotive tactical radio systems to the army of a South Asian nation, whose identity has not been revealed.

Under the $ 127 million contract, Elbit will supply the radios in several configurations over a three-year period.

The radio stations will be integrated on board a number of armored combat vehicles and tanks at the battalion and company level.

Elbit Systems President and CEO Behalel (Buci) Mahlis said: “We are pleased with this order, which shows that customers recognize the benefits of our radio systems.

“We believe that there is significant growth potential for our communication and command and control solutions as the armed forces increasingly seek to build their capabilities for network warfare.

The Israeli financial daily Globes reported that the radio stations under the contract were likely to be delivered to the Indian military, citing unnamed market sources.

In July last year, the Indian Defense Acquisition Council approved the purchase of 4,900 Tadiran radios for the Indian Army’s T-72 and T-90 tanks.

Elbit offers a set of tactical communication systems from the E-LynX family, which is based on advanced software-defined radio (SDR) technology.

The range includes two-channel car radio E-Lynx Vehicular MCTR-7200MP-VD55 and single-channel car radio 7200MP-VS50.

SDR is designed to offer secure and reliable communications on the battlefield.

Last month, the company won a contract for the supply of its precision guided mortars (GMM), STYLET. The contract was awarded by an undisclosed party from the Asia-Pacific region.
