General dynamics“The mission systems business has unveiled a new dual-channel software-defined radio designed to provide multiple levels of security and National Security Agency-certified encryption for voice and data communications.
The new Badger Radio can transmit information using high-frequency, very high-frequency, ultra-high-frequency and satellite signals for mobile consumer systems, the company announced on Monday.
Badger has a flexible architecture that allows next-generation upgrades in the future without the need for redesign.
Other features of Badger include audio voice over Internet Protocol and reduced size, weight and power.

The radio was first shown at the Naval Space Symposium in Maryland.
The announcement comes more than half a year after the introduction of GDMS TACLANE-C175N, built-in network encryptor for secure tactical communications.
