Horizon Aerospace Technologies has launched BlackFish, a SAT Phone SIGINT system.

Horizon Aerospace Technologies, a subsidiary of Horizon Technologies, has announced the launch of BlackFish as a new SIGINT air product.

BlackFish is a small on-board, SAT Phone SIGINT system that simultaneously monitors the Iridium, Thuraya and Inmarsat (IsatPhone Pro) satellite phone networks.

It is ideal for aircraft with fixed and rotating wing, with crew and propeller, due to its small size and weight (8 kg).

BlackFish uses state-of-the-art technology and is based on a software-defined radio equipped with a powerful and GPU processor and a passive cooling system for maximum reliability and performance.

The system has no moving parts, which guarantees high reliability when working in extreme conditions and is fully qualified according to DO-160.

BlackFish is a completely stand-alone Sat Phone monitoring system; does not require external peripherals such as external radio switching and complex wiring or multiple antennas that may affect reliability.

The high-sensitivity L-band receiver is focused on Sat Phone communications and the system offers maximum rejection of frequency interference outside the band, while being broadband and with excellent dynamic range.
