Rohde & Schwarz received a contract from Boeing for the supply of R&S MR6000R multiband transceivers from the SOVERON software family, designated for the installation of Red Hawk.
The T-7A Red Hawk is the new advanced pilot training system for the US Air Force that will train the next generation of pilots for decades to come.
Manufactured by Boeing and its Saab risk-sharing teammate, this is an all-new embedded training system designed for the mission, giving the US Air Force a flexible design that can be easily adapted as technology and training needs evolve. Boeing has received a $ 9.2 billion contract for 351 T-7A aircraft, 46 simulators and related ground equipment to be delivered and installed, replacing the 57-year-old T-38C Talons fleet of Air Education and Training Command.
The R&S MR6000R meets the requirements for small size, lightness and low power, weighing less than four kilograms. It covers the frequency range from 30MHz to 400MHz and supports NATO HAVE QUICK II frequency algorithms for interoperability and digital standard fast frequency hopping SATURN.
“This collaboration is the culmination of years of unwavering teamwork by Boeing and Rohde & Schwarz,” said Michael Hoster, vice president of Boeing Defense & Space, Germany. “Along with updated technology and performance capabilities, the T-7A will be equipped with an improved radio communications package, which gives it additional benefits by preparing pilots for fifth-generation aircraft. We look forward to working with Rohde & Schwarz on this very important project, as well as future opportunities. “
Frank Dunn, President and CEO, Rohde & Schwarz USA and Canada added: “We are proud to work with Boeing, committed to delivering systems that meet the training needs of the US Air Force. The SOVERON radio transceivers provide excellent radio frequency characteristics suitable for applications in harsh military environments for all types of air platforms. Since this is a software-defined radio, we can adapt it for additional training opportunities.
Dr Michael Heidinger, President of Boeing Germany, Central and Eastern Europe, BeNeLux & Nordics concluded: “Boeing’s expanded partnership with Rohde & Schwarz is a testament to how Boeing is further integrating its global operations into the aerospace fabric of Germany and its partners. across the Atlantic with German industrial primers on cutting-edge aerospace programs. “
