Domo Tactical Communications (DTC) Launches New Miniature SDR Transceiver – sUAS News

The wireless communications specialist has launched a miniature radio with a software definition, specially designed for critical size and weight for unmanned vehicles and is especially suitable for small unmanned platforms.

The extremely small, very low power SOL8SDR-M BluCore module provides access to a wide range of IP Mesh and unidirectional COFDM waveforms, including the latest DTC MeshUltra MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Networking) waveform. MeshUltra from DTC can operate with 80+ nodes on the same frequency, sharing the bandwidth of the network data. The radio can be quickly set up as a deployable mobile ad-hoc IP network, providing secure and encrypted communications with low latency.

The miniature radio module is 54mm x 50mm x 11mm and weighs only 60g; ideal for Nano UAS platforms below 250gm and other applications where the SWAP attributes (size, weight and power) are key. Smaller OEM form factors are also available on request. The device produces 200mW RF output, allowing high speed data transmission from a distance and for non-linear vision (NLOS) and urban applications for streaming Full Motion Video (FMV) both EO and IR, audio, data and telemetry (Flight and Useful) cargo) Control.

SOL8 SDR-M provides consistent, low latency and low jitter IP over USB connectivity, with two USB interfaces capable of supporting USB cameras and headphones, as well as Wi-Fi, cellular and Ethernet switches, BluCore can also be connected to a number of hosts devices using RNDIS “Ethernet over USB” connectivity.

The DTC provides full ICD integration and documentation for the SOL8SDR-M, which is suitable for all classes of drones, including Nano UAS drones, swarm drones, UAVs, fixed wing applications, and rotary wings. The RF Line of Sight (LOS) range of 250 km can be achieved with an optimized antenna, radio frequency band and additional amplifiers.

IP Mesh radios offer high-speed connectivity to UAVs in difficult RF and operational environments. The fluid self-healing self-healing network architecture allows UAVs to exchange and transmit critical video and data, both between units and for command elements. The scope can be extended to use repeaters or other activated network assets, allowing the UAV swarm and mother / daughter architecture to be easily implemented.

High-performance surveillance, communication and broadcasting systems allow our customers to work in the harshest RF environments and on the battlefield.
