Elbit receives $338 mil contract to supply tactical radio solution to Swiss Armed Forces

Israel’s Elbit Systems announced on Thursday that it has won a $ 338 million contract to provide the Swiss military with a common military tactical mobile network solution with software-defined radio (SDR) as part of the telecommunications armed forces digitalization program.

The contract, awarded by the Swiss Federal Ministry of Defense, Civil Protection and Sport, must be implemented for a period of six years. Elbit said the contract is a continuation of the company’s announcement on October 29, 2019.

The contract followed more than three years of extensive and competitive technical as well as field evaluations conducted by the Federal Defense Procurement Service and the Swiss Armed Forces. The digital mobile network solution is based on the SD-E-LynX family of open architecture, which allows fast, reliable and secure communication through the Swiss Armed Forces. The solution includes advanced waveforms and includes a SMARTmr routing solution as well as a car intercom, Elbit said.
