The PRC-4090 high-frequency transceiver for tactical operations

Barrett Communications recently unveiled the PRC-4090 HF SDR transceiver at the DSEI, AUSA and MilCIS industry shows. The PRC-4090 is an innovative tactical device that combines advanced software-defined radio technology with a user-friendly touch interface.

With extended operating times of up to 21 hours, the PRC-4090 transceiver is specially designed with practicality in mind. It weighs only 2.95 kg and uses light alloys to reduce the load on the battlefield.

The PRC-4090 control handset allows the operator to control the transceiver by carrying the display module (attached via a molle), eliminating the need to remove the luggage module. The control handset has a 24-bit high-resolution color touch screen, providing improved viewing ability even in extreme weather conditions. From the display, users have access to the most modern and intuitive HF radio interface currently available on the market, containing four different color modes suitable for different ambient light conditions. Each handset is equipped with an advanced GPS system that improves emergency call and positioning features for all deployed identically equipped HF assets.

Internet Protocol (IP) network connectivity is available as standard with the PRC-4090 system docking stations. The RJ-45 Ethernet access point allows the HF network to connect directly to computers, making it easy to integrate with Barrett’s tracking and data options.
