The module-designed module (SoM) designed by Avnet XRF16 ™ Xilinx RFSoC Gen 3 is now available for RF applications requiring low fingerprint, high-speed serial connectivity and real-time processing. Avnet (Nasdaq: AVT), the world’s leading provider of technology solutions, is jointly launching the XRF16 module and the Avalon software package to enable the development of a ready-to-manufacture system using Xilinx Zynq® UltraScale + ™ RFSoC Gen 3. The module is capable of RF direct signal conversion with analog bandwidth up to 6 GHz. The release of the XRF16 Gen3 SOM doubles the channel density of the recently released XRF8 Gen3 SoM to address increasingly complex and demanding applications.
The Avnet XRF16 module can digitize 16 ADC channels with 2.5 gigabytes per second (GSPS) and generate complex (I / Q) waveforms via 16 DAC channels at 9.85 GSPS *. High-speed serial connectivity is available for 10/25/100 Gigabit Ethernet and Xilinx Aurora protocol. The mainband processing and the network interface are processed by the integrated quadruple Arm® Cortex®-A53 processing subsystem of Xilinx UltraScale + RFSoC and programmable logic. Standard peripherals such as USB, Gigabit Ethernet and serial UART are included.
The XRF16 module allows users to immediately start developing prototypes and applications and then move on to production quickly with the same hardware, which significantly reduces market time. It is very suitable for supporting the design of radars, software-defined radio, beamforming, detection and attenuation of signals and applications for medical images.
“Developers need the latest, state-of-the-art technology to implement their initiatives and projects,” said Jim Beneke, vice president of products and emerging technologies, Avnet. “Together with Xilinx, we have created a ready-made modular solution that frees developers to focus on the differentiating features of their products. This is our latest proposal, designed to speed up time to market, which allows developers to provide real business value faster. “
“Combining high-speed digital and precision RF signals in a small form factor creates unique routing and isolation challenges,” said Mike Dunn, director of precision RF, Samtec. “The XRF16 module and the accompanying operator card use best-in-class RF design and signal integrity techniques to provide high-speed connectivity across the platform. System architects and designers can develop next-generation RF applications with confidence that the XRF16 provides the required system performance. “
“The Zynq UltraScale + RFSoC Gen-3 family includes new features, improves the sampling rates of both DAC and ADC, and expands the RF analog band of the integrated 16T16R multi-gigabyte RF data converters for improved performance in demanding RF applications,” said David Brubaker, Zynq UltraScale + RFSoC product line manager, Xilinx. “Optimized for performance, size and power, the Avnet XRF16-Gen3 offers a solution for accessing customers looking for rapid integration of RFSoC Gen-3 technology into their products.”
The Avnet XRF16 module is available for $ 24,995 (USD). An accompanying carrier ticket is also available for $ 4,995 (USD). The products are available in America and EMEA. Find more details about the kit at http://avnet.me/xrf16gen3-som.
