(NASDAQ: ESLT) (TASE: ESLT) (“Elbit Systems”) announced today that it has received a contract to supply E-LynX™ Software defined radio (“SDR”) solution for the Spanish Army Combat Battalion. The new battalion-level radio network is the first step in a program to modernize the Spanish combat radio network. The solution to be delivered includes hundreds of portable E-LynX SDR systems for dismantled troops and automotive systems that will be installed on board a number of battle platforms. The contract, which is of an amount not relevant to Elbit Systems, will be implemented in cooperation with Telefonica, SA (NYSE: TEF, BMD: TEF), over a period of six months.
The choice of E-LynX The SDR solution follows competitive technical and field assessments conducted by the Directorate-General for Arms and Materials (DGAM) of the Spanish Ministry of Defense, including a careful study of the ability to deploy future waveforms and to comply with strict security and anti-jamming requirements. . The E-LynX SDR solution that Elbit Systems will provide to the Spanish military is similar to the solutions recently selected by several other countries, including Switzerland,, Sweden and Israel, as radio solutions for their respective programs for modernization of the mobile network throughout the army.
