Epiq Solutions’ Flying Fox® Enterprise Rogue Wireless Device Detection System Now on Department of Defense’s Information Network Approved Products List (DoDIN APL)

Introducing Epiq Solutions’ Flying Fox Enterprise

Epiq Solutions, a company that DoD trusts to provide software-defined radio (SDR) tools for critical situational awareness, announced today that Flying Fox® Enterprise fraudulent wireless device detection system is approved as a cybersecurity tool (CST) and is now available in List of approved products of the information network of the Ministry of Defense (DoDIN APL). Flying Fox Enterprise is an innovative security solution designed to support compliance with portable electronic device (PED) policies, including DoDD 8100.02, AR 380-28 and DHS MD 11021, among others. It does this by accurately detecting, identifying and locating threats from wireless devices in protected areas, using fully enabled, real-time, fully passive surveillance, geolocation, warning, recording, playback, device listing and cellular, Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi® broadcasts.

Flying Fox Enterprise was created specifically for the DoD enterprise. This innovative solution is initially associated with DoD identity services and DoD PKI for user authentication and key management. The web-based application supports two-factor authentication (2FA) using a DoD Sharing Card (CAC) or other DoD Personal Identity Verification (PIV). All cryptosystems in the system are certified according to the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 and all its components are evaluated according to the relevant guidelines for technical security implementation (STIGs). Flying Fox Enterprise hardware and software are designed and manufactured in the United States to minimize supply chain risks.

The DoDIN APL was established in 2011 to identify solutions that have been shown to meet national security concerns. This basic list presents all products that are available for purchase that are secure, reliable, and approved for deployment in the DoD technology infrastructure. Companies like Epiq Solutions that seek to list a product must go through a long and rigorous evaluation and testing process in order for their products to be listed in the DoDIN APL. As a decision support tool for DoD organizations interested in sourcing equipment to add to DISN in support of their mission, the DoDIN APL ensures that products have completed Interoperability (IO) and Cybersecurity certification. By joining the DODIN APL, DOD customers can purchase Flying Fox Enterprise with a high degree of confidence that will allow them to use this cutting-edge technology to monitor their protected areas with “wireless” policies such as SCIF, embassies and more. protected government buildings, data centers, courtrooms and perimeter fences.

Flying Fox Enterprise has its roots in the collaboration between Epiq Solutions and the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) and builds on those roots with a fully commercial, integrated, easy-to-use system that ranges from deployable kits to installations covering hundreds of thousands of square feet meters. Unlike other “energy-only” sensors, which tend to detect false positives and waste time and money, Flying Fox Enterprise eliminates false positives using patented RF signal processing techniques, providing government and military personnel fast, accurate, determining the critical signal they can count on.

“We are honored to support the DoD APL process and offer our federal government clients a low-risk way to improve their security position with Flying Fox Enterprise. We now believe more than ever in the importance of cybersecurity certification provided by APL to demonstrate compliance with standards and use of best practices in cybersecurity, ”said Gary Schluckbier, Director of RF Sensing at Epiq Solutions.
